Elevated Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

OATS! I get so bored with regular oats. I mean, it's good, BUT. I’ve just thought there has to be a way to take them to the next level. And there is. If you want to elevate your morning…hit this recipe up. It's a little more involved than a regular oatmeal, so keep that in mind. The longest part is peeling and dicing the apples. But I like a little fancy oatmeal every now and again.

Ingredients:

1 cup orange juice

2 small apples- peeled and diced

1/3 cup pure maple syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

2 cups old fashioned oats

3 cups water

1/4 tsp salt

Butter and cream (optional but alsooo…maybe not because its so delicious)

Directions:

Peel and dice your apples. My kids like smaller apple pieces, so this is totally personal preference. Simmer the apples in the orange juice a few minutes. Add pure maple syrup, cinnamon, water, oats, and salt. Bring to medium boil until cooked and it is the consistency that you like.

It makes enough for 4. Some of us like butter in our oatmeal, some of us don’t. So I modify for each bowl. My personal bowl has a little butter, dab of cream if I have it, a scoop of collagen peptides for some protein.

I like to make some protein for the kids to help balance their blood sugar when we have oats. IF I don't, it seems to hit the spot for an hour before they are starving again. Eggs or breakfast sausage help satiate them longer.

Let me know if you make it!

Michal
